Raven's Log Stardate: 2.09.04 I am in the Detroit airport as I ruminate on the fact that Detroit is the poor man's Jersey.
In an unprecedented stroke of serendipity, I was talking to a very sexy female at the Motor City Comicon about 4 months ago where I was one of the guests. I met her for drinks at the hotel bar. She introduced me to a local casting director and the next day introduced me to the point of this anecdote, director Jeff Burton. Jeff has been directing low budget indie horror movies and when i say low budget I mean low budget to the tune of 6 grand. Anyhoo (anyhoo?!?), Jeff is not starstruck, nor is he interested in meeting celebrities, but I intrigued him and he wanted to meet me. He said he'd like me to star in a horror movie he was shooting. Still low budget, but now we're up to a whopping half a mil. Absolutely, said I, and I proceeded to get very excited for all of five minutes before I said to myself, first thing Wrestling 101 teaches you is don't get excited for anything, cuz chances are it ain't gonna happen, or, if it does, it will have nothing to do with what was originally envisioned. So basically, I kept the whole thing to myself. Jeff and I stayed in constant contact. He would tell me who he got for different parts, send me treatments of the script, send me stuff to watch and read to prepare me and still I forced myself to remain nonplussed. I got the script and still resisted the allure of excitement. Last week, I got the contract, then I got somewhat excited. This weekend, we shot the trailer. Now I'm real excited. We shot the trailer first because we're still looking for more investors, and we'll show them that. My flight is boarding, so I'll continue this story later, but I can't thank Jeff enough for the opportunity because acting has always been my post-wrestling goal.
Thespian 4 life.
