ravens log stardate: 2 november 2008

today is two days before the first tuesday following the first monday of november which means its 2 days before election day. bush is a douche, mccain is also a douche, and the enemy of a douche is my friend, therefore barack obama is my friend. actually, i would vote for obama anyway. i think he is the kind of person our country needs right now. he is cool, calm and collected and that is who we need sitting in office right now, not some hothead who is so misinformed that he states the economy is stable one hour before the market crashes, then says, i'm not appearing at the debate, i'm going to washington to solve this. which is all well and good except he isnt even remotely qualified nor is he legally able to affect things, and of course when his grandstanding doesnt work, attends the debate anyway. look, i could give a litany of reasons why i would never vote for mccain, from the way he flip flops on policy constantly even going so far as to change his opinion on torture( the one guy you thought would never vote for torture) and vote it legal and vote with bush on every issue that he voted against bush on 4-8 years before, just to get a chance at getting the republican bid, but for the most part i wont. what i will say though is the final straw for me. it is a fact that what we do as adults affects kids. we tell children that lying, cheating, stealing, is wrong. doing whatever you can to win is wrong. fairness and decency are whats important. we are setting such a horrific example for our kids and then we want to blame it on tv or movies or videogames, but i contend, when you see the leaders of our country slinging mud at one another, and news pundits saying hey obama should fight dirtier, what kind of message are we sending. the fact that mccain hired the disciples of karl rove to run his campaign; the same people that smeared him with such false and malicious slander that it knocked him right out of the running in 2000 shows me what kind of man he is. eight years ago, he decried these people as monsters for dragging a campaign that should have been about the issues into something so filthy and malignant, it infected everyone it touched. apparently eight years later he remains so ill from this petty and putrid disease known as swift boating that instead of even trying to make a recovery, he would rather wallow around in it like a pig in shit b/c to him, winning at any cost is better than not winning. this is the message he sends out to the youth in the world. this is scary rhetoric, very, very scary. whether you like obama, his potential policies, his ideas, or not, at least that is what he has tried to make this race about, whats important, not whats important to win. these are serious , dangerous and trying times. if mccain were running against an orangutang, i would vote for the orangutang. mccain is the most dangerous kind of politician; someone who is doing it strictly for personal gain, not because they want to serve their country. read his own books, he will tell you himself. he's in a race he cant win, not against obama, but against the ghosts of two four star generals, his father and grandfather. to him, the only way to beat these mythic figures is to become president, no matter what it takes. they arent even alive and he is still chasing their legacy, not for the right reasons, but just b/c. when he was a child if he didnt get his way, he'd pout, then hold his breath til he passed out. that is from his own autobiography and that is a scary individual. dont get me wrong, all politicians have a certain amount of self interest, its impossible not to. call me naive but as a believer in the human race, i'd like to think a good percentage of politicians at least start out thinking that besides whatever gain they expect to receive personally that they also feel like they can contribute to the greater good. i think obama is that guy and i think mccain is anything but that guy. "nuff said"

now for something completely different. there is a show my wife watches called what not to wear. it is about these two pushy people who barge in on peoples lives and try to take them from fashion emergency to fashionistas, or at least fashion-satisfactory's. anyway, being the good husband that i am, i occasionally will watch this and one day it hits me, somebody should be helping wrestlers, especially indy wrestlers improve their looks. the wrestling business is all about perception. perception is reality. if you dont look like a star, people wont see you as a star, and that includes not just the fans but jeff jarrett, and vince mcmahon. i think i am eminently qualified to help people redesign their looks. i have invented and created numerous gimmicks, such as the blue meanie, stevie richards, all their tag team homages, from baron von stevie, and colonel de-meanie, to the fabs and bluedust. from kimona wana laya, beulah mcgillicutty, the disco inferno, lodi, the dudleys (with asisst by taz on overalls and tie dye) to scotty the body, raven, sick boy, etc.

when you wrestle (whether you suck or not), by appearing star-like it is much easier to sell yourself a job (the boogeyman is proof of that). its much easier for a booker to see someone dressed a certain way and go, i can do something with that, than it is to just see some random guy in a random outfit. i have decided to make prices very reasonable from as low as 25 dollars to ahh, whatever, depending on how much service you want. if you want help with your character, or a character built from the ground up, or if you want help with your ring work, etc. it can be done on the internet through pictures, or if i am in your area wrestling, or u are in mine, atlanta ga. it can be done in person. i mean lets face it, you can work on your moves all day long but if you dont know how to look or act or work like a star, no one is gonna see you that way. considering this is your life long ambition, isnt it worth a free consultation. email me at office@theraveneffect.com, and write in the subject line, what not to wear.you wont be disapointed. money back guarantee if not 100$ satisfied.

thats it for todays blog folks. hopefully you have noticed i have become much more regular, and, cross your fingers, cause i intend to stay that way.

vote for obama
