The Raven Activity Archives

WWF Sunday Night Heat: Raven Commentary: (04.28.02) - Raven is at ringside with Jonathan Coachman calling commentary. He states he's disgusted and dismayed and mortified HHH lost to Hogan at Backlash last week. When wondering why Undertaker helped Hogan, Raven states its a question wrapped in a mystery wrapped in an enigma; a chinese conundrum. Raven states that as a former U.S. Marine, he recognizes heart, and Tommy Dreamer has more heart than anyone on the roster. He calls Steven Richards, "Wacko Stevie" and wonders what Wacko has to say tonight.

Raven/Steven Richards Confrontation - "Wacko Stevie" says he's out here to air a grievance against a man who has soiled the reputation of a solid citizen in Steven Richards. That man is Raven, and 2 weeks ago, on Raven's Excess & Heat commentary, he sullied him by calling him "Wacko Stevie." Richards says his mind and his body are in the best shape in years and Raven has no right to pontificate on the mental state of others. He challenges Raven to step through the ropes and show him how calculated he is and he's not a wacko! Raven gets up to a huge pop and a RAVEN chant as he gets up to confront Steven in the ring.

Raven vs. Steven Richards - Raven comes in the ring, gets stomped down by Steven, who is irate and we have an impromptu match as the bell rings. He whips Raven into the corner, but Raven reverses and hits his clothesline/bullsog combo for a 2-count. Raven whips Steven into the ropes, but Steven holds on and kicks Raven in the mouth with a stiff roundhouse that has him bleeding profusely. Raven knocks down Steven with an equally stiff lariat for a 2 count. He clubs Steven in the chest with 6 hard slaps and pops him in the mouth and backs off with his hands in the air taunting him as the referee pulls them apart. Steven kicks him in the mouth again, to more blood flow. Richards clotheslines Raven and they both go over the rope. Steven snap suplexes Raven, then whips him onto a back body drop for a 2 count but Raven kicks-out. Steven slaps Raven in the chest, then whips him against the ropes and hits a low-blow to Raven's lower abdomen that stuns him, allowing Steven to try to get a win via a sunset-flip roll-up. Steven only gets a 2-count and Raven kicks out. Raven tosses Steven into the corner and clubs him with 4 hard blows to the chest. He whips Steven into the ropes and back body drops him, over his head. Raven charges him and knocks him down with a right hand. He then whips Steven into the ropes, and connects with a lariat from the opposite ropes for momentum. He calls Steven up, and then decimates him with a "Mr. Wrestling II" knee lift that knocks Steven up off of his feet with the impact for a 2 count. Raven goes for the DDT, but Richards counters and rams Raven into the corner, whips him to the opposite turnbuckle, setting up the Stevie-Kick. Raven moves out of the way of the move, kicks Steven in the gut and evenflows Richards with the Raven Effect for the pinfall victory to a tremondous pop in this hard fought victory!

WINNER: Raven via Pinfall (2:50)

WWF Excess Late Night: Raven Appearance: (04.27.02) - Raven is on the show co-hosting with Jonathan Coachman once again. He's sporting a red silk shirt and heavy black eyeliner, along with more black braids to go with his blonde ones.

Notes from Raven's commentary: Raven feels that he thinks Undertaker has a better chance of defeating Hulk Hogan at Judgment Day than HHH because Hogan is at the end of his glory days. Raven feels Ric Flair's job as referee at the last PPV, Backlash, was the shoddiest job ever and he was unqualified to be one in the first place. Raven feels HHH's actions against Undertaker on RAW were overt and gave him some small reprisal on revenge against 'Taker. Coach sets up 3 7-11 cups on the Excess desk and Raven asks "Allow me to interject here for a moment, Coach? What is this? If I throw a ping pong ball in there do I get a free goldfish?" Coach explains to Raven they're new WWF cups, Raven asks if's he on one and Coach says no. "I'm not on one? Oh ..." Raven replies & gets all huffy. Raven once again puts over Trish's transition as a wrestler this year. Raven replies "I like a chick who can take a beating." Raven quotes Gordon Solie in saying "Discretion is the greater part of valor" in referring to Matt Hardy trying to defend Lita. He says Matt's actions were "foolish, very foolish ... but at least he's still alive ... and he doesn't have the brains to beat Paul Heyman."

WWF Sunday Night Heat: Raven Appearance: WWF Backlash Pre-Show: (04.21.02) - Raven and Jonathan Coachman are the hosts for this pre-show look at the WWF Backlash PPV, tonight live on PPV. Raven is dressed in street clothes, so no involvement for him wrestling-wise on the PPV tonight.

Notes from Raven's Commentary: They show a clip of Bubba and D-Von Dudley reuniting at the Backlash PPV and not getting along. Raven finds it an odd and strange reunion with piqued interest. Raven hypes up Jason X coming out on April 26th. Raven feels Brock Lesnar's potential can be gauged after he performs on his first match at the pay-per-view, but Brock Lesnar is an animal regardless, and the Hardyz cannot annihilate him and Paul Heyman is "an unrepentant degenerate." Raven says he'll be surprised if HHH doesn't run all over Hulk Hogan and mow him down to retain his WWF Undisputed Title. Raven picks the Undertaker to go over Austin on the PPV for the number one contendership, because he needs the win and the Undisputed Title shot more than Stone Cold Steve Austin does.

WWF Excess Late Night: Raven Appearance: (04.20.02) - It's WWF Excess Late Night on TNN recapping RAW for April 15, 2002. Raven and Jonathan Coachman are there to recap RAW and hype Backlash on PPV on April 21, 2002.

Notes from Raven's commentary: They recap Jazz' attack of Trish Stratus on RAW, costing her a match against Molly. Raven thinks it's fitting that Jazz lets her actions speak for her, since he doesn't think we'll be getting anything cogent from someone who verbalizes like a monk who has an oath of silence. Raven picks Trish Stratus to win the Women's Title because she's worked harder and improved more than anyone else in the womens' division. Raven thinks RVD is a plagiarist, since he ripped off Eddie Guerrero's frogsplash and picks him to win the IC Title on PPV.

Raven Appearance: Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Goldust: (04.20.02) - Bubba grabbed the mic and jawed on about Des Moines, Iowa being great and gave reference to last night's show in Uniondale, New York. He said that tonights match will now be known as "A Des Moines Street Fight" He got a huge pop. Bubba and Goldust went at it. Goldust ripped off Bubba's WWF Hat and slapped him with it. This was funny because Goldust was calling Bubba a "bitch" everytime he hit him with the hat. Bubba brought in some weapons, but Goldust won the match.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Goldust via Pinfall.

Then from knowhere Raven came in the ring and kicked the crap out of Goldust and hit him with Raven Effect DDT to win the Hardcore Championship.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall. [17x]

As Raven turned around to celebrate Bubba nailed him and pinned him to regain his Hardcore Title.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Bubba Ray Dudley via Pinfall.

Raven Interference: Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Goldust: (04.19.02) - This was a WWE house show in Uniondale, NY. Goldust came out, followed by Bubba Ray who wound up standing on some bleachers next to him, swinging the hardcore title. He gets a mic in the ring and says that this is his hometown, and that they deserve to see a Long Island Street fight. The two start fighting, and after Bubba knocks Goldust down, he goes down under the ring and gets a trash can, a cookie sheet, 2 trash can lids, and a net of oranges.. Bubba gives some very hard shots to Goldust. He then unties the oranges, and starts juggling them, before pretending to throw them. When Goldust covers himself thinking Bubba threw the oranges, Bubba throws one right into his "Golden Globes." They get up, and hit each each with a trash can lid both standing up after a few shots, and Bubba ducks one shot and gets a neckbreaker on Goldust. He then hits two elbowdrops , dances and gives another one, before shouting "Bubba, get the tables!" He goes under the ring and grabs a table and set it up in the ring. He lifts Goldust, but Goldust reverses it into a bulldog. Goldust covers for the win.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Goldust via Pinfall.

Raven then runs down and hits Goldust with the Raven Effect to win the WWF Hardcore Title.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall. [16x]

Bubba then gets up and powerbombs Raven through a table for the pinfall victory.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Bubba Ray Dudley via Pinfall.

WWF RAW: WWF Hardcore Championship: Raven vs. Bubba Ray Dudley: (04.15.02) - The opening match on WWF RAW finds Raven in the challenger's position for Bubba Ray Dudley's WWF Hardcore Championship Title. A title which Bubba incidentally defeated Raven for 2 weeks ago on the 4/1 WWF RAW in Raven's first title defense after defeating Maven for the belt himself on WWF Smackdown on 3/26. Bubba Ray Dudley comes out swinging the WWF Hardcore Title like a bull-roarer and tosses it into the ring as he awaits the arrival of the man from the Bowery, Raven. Raven makes his way out to the ring via his new theme music by nu-metal band Stereomud, entitled "End of Everything," which you can purchase HERE. Both men toss a variety of plunder into the ring during their entrance and run into teh ring and lock-up, with Raven gripping Bubba in a side headlock. Raven whips Bubba into the ropes several times, but Bubba catches Raven and bodyslams him down, allowing Bubba to grab a trash can lid and slam him about the head with it. Bubba climbs the top rope, but Raven rebounds and slams Bubba with a cookie sheet and telegraph slams him from the top rope onto the apron. Raven slams Bubba into the turnbuckle and nails him with a wicked clothesline from hell off the ropes. Raven rams Bubba with a "Mr. Wrestling II" knee-lift and pins Bubba for a 2-count. Raven then grabs a wooden chair and smashes it into splinters on the prone Bubba. He grabs a trash-can and crushes it on Bubba's head. Bubba screams at Raven to give him some more and Raven obliges him with a wicked STOP sign blow that topples Bubba head first onto the now crushed trash-can for a 2-count. Raven and Bubba both ram against each other from the ropes to no avail, then each nail the other with 2 harsh synchronized blows from trash can lids, but Bubba catches Raven with a desperation Bubba-cutter on the 3rd attempt as both men are down on the mat. They trade punches as they stand and Bubba gets the upperhand with an over the shoulder suplex attempt. Bubba hits Raven with 2 elbows, a little dance and then an axe-handle and signals that its time to "GET THE TABLES!" However, Raven drops a baseball slide drop kick as Bubba brings the table into the ring, Raven brings Bubba back into the ring and hits Bubba with The Raven Effect for the pinfall and we have a NEW WWF Hardcore Champion in Raven!

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall (3:05) [15x]

As Raven celebrates being a now FIFTEEN time WWF Hardcore Champion, raising the belt high above his head, his former arch-rival, Tommy Dreamer sneaks his way into the ring. Ever the opportunist, Dreamer hits Raven with a Spiccoli Driver, allowing him to score only his 3rd singles pinfall victory over Raven in his career and become a first time WWF Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Tommy Dreamer via Pinfall (0:15)

Of course, when one opportunist makes his way to the ring, yet another must follow to take advantage of the 24/7 rule as Dreamer himself had. So Steven Richards makes his way to the ring with his own official and hits Dreamer with a Steven-Kick to win himself his first WWF Hardcore Championship.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Steven Richards via Pinfall (0:07)

Of course, Bubba Ray, knowing what is up, grabs a guitar, bashes it over Steven's head and wins the title back, heading for the hills as Raven is robbed of his rightful victory.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Bubba Ray Dudley via Pinfall (0:15)

WWF Sunday Night Heat: Raven Appearance: (04.14.02) - Raven is once again in the color commentator's chair on Sunday Night Heat on MTV with Jonathan Coachman dressed in his ring gear for the night.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: Raven notes that Coach made fun of the size of Big Show's head last week by saying it was 300 lbs. Coach apologizes and says its probably more like 400 instead. Raven feels that the Crash vs. Jackie match follows the long tradition of inter-gender matches started by comedian Andy Kaufman.

WWF Excess Late Night: Raven Appearance: (04.13.02) - This is the second week of the new WWF Excess split format, with Jonathan Coachman and Raven providing commentary for WWF Excess Late Night going over the angles and matches of Ric Flair's RAW brand from 11 pm to 12 am midnight. Raven is on dressed in street clothes; jeans, sandals and a black hoodie jacket.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: Raven explains his fashion sense for the evening by telling Coach that "K-Mart was all out of the lime-green, crappy, short-sleeved sweaters [that Coach] favors so much." Raven thinks the #1 contendership matches on RAW on 4/8 were all about Flair going into business for himself after realizing McMahon's brand got the first shot at the Undisputed Championship. Raven thinks RVD could have beaten the Undertaker if Eddie Guerrero hadn't interfered, but in the end it doesn't matter how you win, as long as you win. Raven thinks Regal lost his European Title because of his own ineptitude. Raven wonders why Coach is perpetually in a position to embarass himself. Raven finds the reconciliation between Spike Dudley and Bubba Ray entirely distasteful, because "compassion has no place in the hardcore realm." Raven sends out a veiled warning to Bubba that the Hardcore Title is "anytime, anywhere" and Bubba needs to stick to business at hand. Raven states that having unflappable mental discipline is necessary to be a good Hardcore Champion, not good dance moves. Raven also notes that Coachman does a terrible Patrick Stewart impression from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Raven also thinks Coach is naive for not realizing that Molly Holly had a darker side to her genetic makeup. Raven also makes fun of Jazz' lack of color commentary during RAW, as well as noting that pain is a state of mind and Paul Heyman has Brock Lesnar mesmerized into thinking he is invulnerable.

WWF Hardcore Championship: William Regal vs. Bubbah Ray Dudley: (04.07.02) - House show match in Denver, CO. The match had a stipulation in which a coin would be tossed to see if William Regal would defend his WWF European Title or if Bubbah Ray would defend his WWF Hardcore Title. The ref tossed the coin and Bubbah Ray called it and got to choose. Regal got on the mic insulting the crowd saying his European Title should be defended. In the end, Bubbah Ray asked the crowd for help which starting a big HARDCORE chant prompting the match to have the Hardcore Title on the line. During the match, Bubbah Ray put a table into the ring which would come into use later. The match ended when Regal nailed Bubbah Ray with the brass knuckles to get the win and to become the new Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: William Regal via Pinfall.

24/7 comes into effect and moments later, Goldust ran out and attacked Regal and pinned him to become the new Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Goldust via Pinfall Raven ran out and he hit the Evenflow DDT on Goldust and pinned him to become the new Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall [14x].

Just as Raven turned around, Bubba Ray got up and powerbombed him through the table allowing him to pin Raven and to become the new Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Bubbah Ray Dudley via Pinfall.

WWF Sunday Night Heat: Raven Appearance: (04.07.02) - As yet another consequence of the WWF Brand Extension diving RAW and Smackdown into 2 competing companies, MTV's Sunday Night Heat is now taped on Mondays along with RAW as a lead-in for the RAW brand. The new hosts for MTV Heat are Jonathan Coachman on play-by-play and Raven on color commentary.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: Raven thinks Dreamer has the most heart of anyone on the WWF roster because of all the battles he has had with Dreamer throughout the years in ECW, but resents that Dreamer tried to take his opportunity to win the WWF Hardcore Title away on 3/26 via a 24/7 rule run-in on Smackdown vs. Maven. He won't discuss his loss to Bubbah on 4/1 and feels "fate is a fickle mistress." Bubbah wouldn't have escaped the Raven Effect if he had landed it in the match and thinks its a "bunch of crap" that Bubbah has his title. He likes the creepy and ambiguous Goldust and thinks Scott Hall and Crash Holly are tougher than they're perceived to be by most fans.

WWF Excess Late Night: Raven Appearance: (04.06.02) - The World Wrestling Federation's 2-hour late Saturday night recap show, WWF Excess, has been altered in lieu of the WWF Brand Extension, From now on, Mark Loyd and Micheal Cole have WWF Excess from 10 pm to 11pm to cover the events on the WWF Smackdown roster. But, from 11pm to 12 am midnight, the show is WWF Excess Late Night with your co-hosts, Jonathan Coachman and Raven covering the events and personalities on the WWF RAW roster.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: After going over the WWF Hardcore Championship match against Bubbah on the 4/1 RAW, Raven looked angry and was dissapointed in losing the title. Raven went on to say he was more dissapointed by the sheer unbridled sugarcoating of the difficulty of the bout by Bubbah's dedication the title victory to his brother, D-Von. "Did I make a big deal out of it when my parents divorced, did I make a big deal about it when they left me alone as a child? No. Leave it alone, Coach." Raven was in character the whole time and did not break down into putting over others at the expense of his character. Raven feels that Stereomud's "End of Everything [a remix of his own WWF theme music] is the best track on WWF Forceable Entry, which is the #3 album on the Billboard Top 200 and the #1 Hard Rock album in America.

WWF Hardcore Championship: William Regal vs. Bubbah Ray Dudley: (04.06.02) - This was a house show match in Salt Lake City, Utah. William Regal grabbed the mic and called heads. The ref tossed the coin and Regal grabbed it calling us all pathetic fools. Bubbah Ray grabbed the mic and told him that nobody likes him to shut up and give the ref the coin back. The coin was finally tossed and was indeed heads, which meant Regal would decide which belt would be on the line.

This would turn out to be a match for the Hardcore Title. It was a normal match with no weapons at first. Bubbah Ray did his patented three elbow drops and double ax handle to the chest and then mocked Regal by pretending to drink tea with his pinky out.

Bubbah Ray rolled out of the ring and brought in a trash can, trash can lid, and a broom. He then reached into the trash can and pulled out 3 huge oranges and started juggling them. He swung like he was going to throw one at Regal's head causing Regal to flinch. As he flinched Bubbah Ray tossed an orange right into the family jewels. He then picked up the broom and pretended to be sweeping and then hit Regal with it. Regal got back up and got an orange and smashed it into Bubbah Ray's face and then hit him with the trash can lid. Finally while Bubbah Ray was distracted he pulled out the brass knucks and nailed Bubbah Ray with the power of the punch to become the new WWF Hardcore champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: William Regal

Immediately the 24 hour rule went into effect, and Goldust ran down and pinned Regal with a roll-up.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Goldust via Pinfall.

Raven then runs down to the ring and lands the Evenflow on Goldust as he feels the Raven Effect for a pinfall victory, making Raven a 13 time WWF Hardcore Champion.

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall [13x].

During all of this Bubbah Ray had managed to get up and get a table set up in the ring, and powerbombed Raven into it to regain his Hardcore Title. So we had a total of 4 Hardcore title changes here!

WINNER and NEW WWF Hardcore Champion: Bubbah Ray Dudley via Pinfall.

WWF RAW: WWF Hardcore Championship: Bubbah Ray Dudley vs Raven: (04.01.02) - This is Raven's first official WWF Hardcore Title defense since capturing the WWF Hardcore Championship from Maven on WWF Smackdown on 3/26. Bubbah Ray Dudley makes his way out to the ring first awaiting his opponent, the enigmatic Raven. Raven makes his way out to the ring to his WWF: The Music Vol. 5 theme, pushing his Raven-Mobile full of hardcore weaponry to use against his foe from Dudleyville here at WWF RAW in Albany, New York.

The bell rings and the first contest for the now RAW exclusive Hardcore Championship is underway. Raven throws a crutch into the ring and Bubbah catches it waiting for Raven. He swings at Raven, but Raven ducks and tackles Bubbah in the stomach, forcing him to fling the crutch out of the ring. The men start trading blows as Bubbah gets the upperhand, chopping Raven and snapping him down to the mat. He hits Raven with 2 elbows and a splash, yelling at Raven as he does it, calling him a "sick freak." Bubbah then whips Raven out of the ring with a vicious lariat. As Raven lays dazed and confused on the canvas, Bubbah opens a bag of oranges from Raven's cart and starts juggling them, ultimately slamming one into Raven's face as he tries to attack Bubbah. Bubbah grabs Raven's cart and tries to run him over with it, but Raven ducks and Bubbah rams it into the ring steps. Raven grabs another crutch, jabbing Bubbah in the stomach with it, and then bashing it over his back causing it to fly apart. Raven tosses Bubbah back in the ring, tries to whip him into the ropes. Bubbah reverses, tries to go for a Full-Nelson, but Raven low blows Bubbah breaking the hold. Raven punches Bubbah, then tosses him like a rag doll onto the canvas. The Poet of the Macabre then picks up 2 trashcan lids and wails Bubbah with them over 7 times, sending the Dudleyville denizen face first onto the mat in agony. Raven then picks up the red STOP sign, and drills Bubbah with it on the canvas for a near 3 count. Raven puts Bubbah in a sleeper to wear his resistance down. Bubbah almost submits, but picks up the STOP sign, clocking Raven with it to break the hold. Both men trade blows in the center, until Bubbah lays Raven out with a clothesline from Hell. Bubbah whips Raven into the ropes and uses his momentum to pick Raven up and hit him with a Samoan Drop for 2. Bubbah tries to hit Raven with a trashcan from the top rope, but Raven sprays Bubbah with a fire extinguisher to daze the Dudley Boy. Bubbah recovers enough to slap Raven with the trashcan lid and then hits Raven with a back body drop for 2. Bubbah tries to set Raven up for a drop toe hold on a chair, but Raven reverses it, sending Bubbah crashing through the chair instead of the man from the Bowery for a 2 count. Raven is stunned this isn't enough and screams in frustration. Raven puts Bubbah in a side headlock in an attempt to unleash the Raven Effect, but Bubbah counters and puts Raven in a Full-Nelson, hitting the Bubbah Bomb for the pinfall and the WWF Hardcore Championship.

WINNER and NEW Hardcore Champion: Bubbah Dudley via Pinfall (4:07)
