The Raven Activity Archives

WWF Monday Night RAW: Raven Appearance: Big Stevie Cool vs. Little Guido: (02.24.97) - This was one of the very first 2 hour RAWs. Most of the WWF roster was off doing a tour in Germany at the time, so Vince McMahon made an arrangement with Paul Heyman's ECW to do several matches on the show in an effort to pad it, as well as creating some buzz around ECW for their first PPV, Barely Legal on 4/13/97. One of these matches was Guido of the FBI vs. Big Stevie Cool (aka Stevie Richards) of the Blue World Order. Raven was set to face the winner of a three way dance between Sandman, Terry Funk, and Stevie Richards. So to tease this, Raven makes his way out to ringside during the match, wearing his ECW World Title and a Neil Young t-shirt. Stevie is knocked out of the ring during the match and Raven does the Crucifix over him and then leaves as Stevie crawls off.

ECW Cyberslam '97: Raven & Brian Lee vs. Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk: (02.22.97) - The card opens with an announcement that Shane will not be able to wrestle tonight, in the place of his match with Pitbull #1, Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk will face Raven and Brian Lee.

Pre-match Raven tells Tommy that in all the time he's known him, Tommy has never beaten Raven at anything. So Raven says tonight's his lucky night, he's going to lie down and let Tommy pin him and thus cost Terry Funk his title shot. Tommy starts beating on Raven, but keeps getting up at two because he doesn't want to cost Terry his title shot. Raven calls in Funk and then tags out to Lee. This ends up in a 4 way brawl and Lee ends up getting Dreamer's trash can and ends up DESTROYING everyone with it. He really beat the bejesus out over everyone. Terry ends up getting stretchered out as much as he tries to fight it. In the mean time, Dreamer tries two on one but gets laid out. Out comes Stevie Richards who gets in Raven's face. Raven shoves him around and dares Stevie to kick him. Stevie loads up the boot ... and gets chokeslammed by Lee. Lee works over Stevie with the quickly becoming flat trashcan. Out comes Lori Fullington who gets in Raven's face ... and she gets DDTed ... and out comes the Sandman ... with Tyler on his shoulders. Sandman chugs and smashes the can on his head ... and starts bleeding in the process. Lee goes to chokeslam him, but Sandman blocks it by caning him. He and Raven go at it and Sandman ends up DDTing him and getting the pin for Dreamer's team. WINNERS: Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer via Pinfall.

ECW TV: Raven Appearance: (02.13.97) - Show opens with Tommy Dreamer talking about the things he's done in ECW and how extreme he's going to be on Sunday April 13th and the PPV. Highlights of Dreamer classics follow including the infamous Sandman caning incident at the goading of Woman, Dreamer pinning Raven with Richards interfering and DDTing Stevie and ref John Finegan and then the first piledriver on Beulah way back. The chair shot heard round the world, fun with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk when Tommy had to bring the hardcore back out of Cactus. Tommy smashing Raven in the head with the stopsign, Tommy challenging Raven at Korakuen Hall in Japan. Beulah ddting BlueDust, Beulah and Francine and their catfights, Tommy's table rides with the bulldozer, including Tommy's win at the High Incident match. Beulah tells us we're gonna see something so extreme its gonna be barely legal.

Joey opens the show talking about the PPV on April 13th as ECW is going to be Barely Legal. He talks about the people that want to be champ, like Doctor Death Steve Williams and his quest as he publically challenged Raven for the belt and it seems that the hostility between Raven and Big Stevie Cool lead to Doc's being pinned in the states for the first time in 10 years. Then he seemed to be able to shake off those StevieKicks with little effort and then Raven gets him with the DDT. If Raven wants to be champ at Barely Legal than he'd best keep his chin away from Stevie's boot.

There is one man who is so very desperate of getting his last shot at a title; Terry Funk. As from the Arena the battle between two former NWA champions Terry Funk vs Tommy Rich. They've never met in the ring, but Rich beat Harley Race for that title, the man who Race beat was Terry Funk. Terry gets his usual ovation and his reception is for that of someone truly legendary. Rich not getting the reception that he did during his Arena debut. Rich already out of the ring and this thing outside already as ref Jim Molineaux does his best tokeep it in the ring. Rich busted open already and now they decide to take it to the ring - Terry with the advantage beating on Rich as this on his way to perhaps that one last shot at a title. Rich on the recieving end of what they call a good old fashioned ass kicking, Rich now trying to get to Funk and stop that comeback. Rich now going for the figure four, but Terry reverses it into the spinning toe hold and Tommy Rich gives up and the Funker wins and the comeback continues. Terry now talking about a man named Freckles Brown who was a rodeo rider who had no business on that bull, but he did it saying that every dog has his day and that's how Terry feels. He wants his shot with Raven, he wants that memory, especially when its freshest. He can give his family that memory of being a champ. Comments from Raven saying how if Terry Funk is going to bore us with the old war stories he should at least buy us another round. Should fate put Funk and Raven together, every dog does not have its day, not in Raven's world, he's the ECW champion for one reason, just because no one can beat him.

ECW: ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Rob Van Dam vs. Raven: (02.08.97) - After a lot of brawling through the crowd, Van Dam threw Raven through a wall in the back. It was unbelievable. Van Dam had Raven pinned but the ref was bumped. The BWO came out and it appeared as if Big Stevie Cool would Steviekick Raven again but Raven ducked and Van Dam got hit. Raven rolled over on Van Dam for the pin.

WINNER: Raven via pinfall.

ECW: ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Rob Van Dam vs. Raven: (02.07.97) - These two brawled for about twenty minutes, Rob somersaulting over the ropes onto Raven on the floor a couple of times. Things spilled into the crowd several times. The music came up, Big Stevie Cool dropped by, and Raven ducked to let Rob catch the Steviekick; DDT, pin.

WINNER: Raven via Pinfall.

MEWF: Knuckles Zanwich vs. Raven: (02.02.97) - It started with Raven giving Knuckles a tour of the arena and bouncing him off the walls by going through the crowd. Knuckles gets some offense and re-opens some injuries on Raven's face against Steve Williams the prior night. The match ends with a DDT and pin at 6:45.

WINNER: Raven via pinfall.

ECW: ECW World Heavyweight Title: Raven vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams: (02.01.97) - The show kicked off with all the company's heels up on the stage, including Raven, and all the babyfaces inside the ring. At this point, Paul E. Dangerously came out and did a long speech recapping the history of ECW, and how great it was to be given a chance to realize his vision of what a wrestling company should be. And he announced he'd get to see that vision on nation-wide cable on April 13, as he made it official to the assembled ECW faithful at the Arena that an ECW PPV would air live from the Arena on that date.

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams beat Axl Rotten, and then did an interview where he said that what he really wanted was the ECW World Heavyweight Title. So Raven came out and started brawling, which led to Commissioner Tod Gordon announcing this was to be a title match. Raven eventually got a tainted win over Williams after Big Stevie Cool hit "Dr. Death" with three Steviekicks.

WINNER: Raven via pinfall.
