GOLDBERG GENERATION: RAVEN

STRENGTHS
GENIUS - He can make fellow wrestlers follow his lead. He can fool even his own mother into believing he’s clinically depressed. And he can win titles and acclaim without half-trying. You mean to tell us Raven’s not brilliant?
CHOOSY – His friendships and long-term relationships with Kanyon and Perry Saturn are mainly because these competitors blend well with his own personal style both in and out of the ring.
PACESETTER – Not only is Raven on the cutting edge in terms of attitude and ring attire, but his pacing in the ring enables him to compete in lengthy bouts without him getting windy or tired. In this case, youth is served very, very well.
WEAKNESSES
RELENTLESS HEAD GAMES – “What about me? What about Raven? What about me?” Well, what about you? Raven, do you think your opponent gives a damn about you? This one tactic that more times than most could backfire, a rarity for such an intelligent man.
STRANGE AND SORDID – We shudder to think what goes on in this man’s twisted thoughts. He seems to be maturing, but after his actions with the Flock, anything is possible, and all of it is frightening.
DEPRESSED IMAGE – Even now, his image is one of an unsatisfied loner, leading many opponents to think he is easy pickings. He’s also a child of privilege and he flaunts it., which makes many WCW opponents simply want to beat the tar out of him.
THE FUTURE
Raven is already enjoying an incredible year, reforming with Saturn to become a championship team and actually garnering the favor of the fans. Even more amazingly, it’s hard to believe this man once displayed the cowardice he once did. Where he used to let others do his bidding, Raven seems eager to take on any and all challenges. He’s also willing to display his wrestling skills, which are among the elite of the sport, and his stamina borders on the unreal. It appears Raven could wrestle for two hours and not become winded or tired. More than any WCW competitor we can think of at the moment, Raven is competing with blinders on, anxious to show he’s among the organization’s best . . . and he is. If there is a wrestler that represents this sport’s new wave of superstars, Raven is that competitor . . . and he has yet to reach a fraction of his vast potential.
