Unless I'm wrong, I don't believe Raven has ever faced Vampiro in the squared circle. Not that I know of, at least.
When Vampiro unmasked and cost Raven his hair, you knew sooner or later these two superstars would be meeting in one of the most aggressive, bloody matches in TNA. That time has come, and it arrives this Wednesday on Pay-Per-View.
When Raven spoke of the Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine chain match this past week and his promise to take it to a more violent level, I had flashbacks of that brutal match from the early 1980s.
During the bout, Piper's ear was so bloody and battered that he was barely able to stand due to damage to his equalibrium. In fact, Piper suffered permananent damage because of the bout, and it became an instant classic among hardcore fans.
The mere fact that Raven promises to top that gruesome Piper-Valentine battle this Wednesday in the Hangman's Horror/Gallows of Retribution Match makes me wonder if Vampiro knows what he's got himself into.
And on the same note, I wonder if Raven is prepared for what this match could do to him. With so much hatred pointed at Father James Mitchell and his unrelenting mission to come face-to-face with the evil manager, will there be anything left of Raven after this Wednesday?
