WCW Monday Nitro: Raven Appearance: Chris Benoit/Mongo McMicheal vs. Saturn/Riggs: (1.4.98) - Chris Benoit/Steve McMichael vs. Saturn/Scotty Riggs - a partial Horsemen reunion in this contest. Lodi holds a sign at ringside which reads "The Nest Never Loses". Benoit and Saturn start out with a slugfest. Then Mongo gets in and dominates both of his opponents until they manage a decent doubleteam attack. Riggs continues the assault on his own but soon loses the advantage. He recovers and tags in Saturn who takes Mongo down with a an armbar. Riggs comes back in and holds onto the initiative. Then they go back to a doubleteam - trying for a double suplex - but Mongo overpowers both of them and drops them on their faces. Benoit gets in and puts the Croppler Crossface on Saturn but the referee doesn't see it because he's trying to keep the rest of the flock out of the ring. He also doesn't see Raven enter the ring and apply a DDT to Benoit. Saturn takes the pin. Cut to commercial.

WINNERS: Saturn/Riggs via pinfall

WCW Monday Nitro: Raven Appearance: Chris Benoit vs. Dean Malenko: (1.12.98) - Malenko takes the early advantage but loses it immediately - the match is largely evenly fought. Raven and his flock are at ringside. Benoit finally puts Malenko down with a tackle then goes to town on him. But Malenko slips in a snap suplex and retakes the initiative. The match see-saws several times - neither man really holds all the cards. Malenko finally makes some headway with a short-arm scissors. Benoit turns Malenko over then picks him up and dumps him on the back of his head. Benoit snaps Malenko over and goes for the pin but Malenko has his foot on the rope. They get to their feet and several standing switches ensue - Malenko tries to go for the Texas Cloverleaf but Benoit slips away. Benoit goes for the Crippler Crossface but Malenko is in the ropes. They exchange several more moves then Benoit gets the Crossface and the submission. Raven is in the ring, grabs Benoit as he rises and applies the DDT. Malenko takes exception to that but Saturn jumps him from behind and applies the Rings of Saturn.

WCW Thunder: (1.15.98) - No Raven Activity

WCW Monday Nitro: Raven Appearance: Chris Benoit vs. Marty Jannetty: (1.19.98) - Marty Jannetty vs. Chris Benoit - Benoit goes right into his usual buzzsaw routine but Jannetty out maneuvers him and gets a superkick in. Jannetty holds the cards for the next several exchanges then Benoit's afterburners kick in. A snap suplex puts Jannetty on the receiving end. Jannetty stays in it but Benoit is gaining ground on attitude alone. But then Jannetty starts to turn it around until suddenly Benoit slaps on his Crippler Crossface. About this time Raven and his Flock show up. They swarm into the ring and have Benoit down but then Jannetty comes back to help - between the two of them they drive the intruders off. Benoit stands with Lodi writhing at his feet as we cut to commercial.

WCW Thunder: Raven Appearance: Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho: (1.22.98) - Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit - they start the match immediately and Benoit has the advantage. They have gone to the outside as we cut to commercial.

As we return the match has progressed but Benoit is still in charge. In fact Jericho doesn't appear to have a prayer against the "human buzzsaw". He hangs in there and eventually uses a shortcut to turn the tables. It doesn't last long and soon Benoit is on top again. He starts to apply the "Crippler Crossface" but Jericho taps out instantly and rolls out of the ring. After the match Benoit gestures toward Raven who refuses to acknowledge him. As soon as Benoit turns his back, Raven slides in under the ropes and atttacks as we cut to commercial.

WCW/nWo Souled Out PPV: Raven vs. Chris Benoit: (1.25.98) - Raven vs. Chris Benoit - we got a preview of this match this afternoon on WCWSN - Mongo had a match with Raven and had Benoit substitute for him. It was a short match before Raven's Flock intervened. David Penzer announces that the Flock is barred from ringside for this match and WCW says Raven must wrestle. Raven goes into a self-pitying rant before Benoit makes his entrance. Raven drop-kicks Benoit as he tries to enter the ring. The fight goes to the outside immediately where Raven maintains his advantage. Back in the ring he continues his assault but is starting to have some trouble keeping his opponent off balance. Benoit almost pins him twice. The fight goes back out to the floor where Raven uses a chair (as usual with him - this is a no DQ match). Back in the ring Raven snap-mares Benoit onto the chair. Then bulldogs him onto it. But he can't put Benoit away. He tries to employ the chair a third time but Benoit reverses the field and drops Raven face first onto it. Now Benoit is getting his second wind. He suplexes Raven onto the chair then rips his shirt off. Raven takes some more chops then rolls out to the floor. There is no escape however, Benoit follows him right out and is relentless. He fights his opponent right up the ramp. Raven is reeling now. Benoit throws him back into the ring. He tries to suplex Raven onto the chair again but doesn't get all of it. He then positions the chair on Raven's head then throws his flying head butt - both are unconscience now and Micky Jay is counting. Benoit recovers at 6 and goes for a pin. Raven kicks out. Benoit is staggering but Raven is out on the mat. He tries to go for a DDT but Raven reverses the move. Both are down again. Benoit recovers first - moments later he puts on the Crippler Crossface. Raven refuses to submit, even seems to smile but loses conscienceness and is ruled as the loser. The flock invades - first Kidman - but Dean Malenko shows up and puts the Texas Cloverleaf on him. Others come in and are fought off by the two non-Flock members. Benoit acknowledges Malenko before he leaves.

WINNER: Chris Benoit via Submission

WCW Monday Nitro: Raven vs. Mortis w/James Vandenberg: (1.26.98) - [This match is interesting for several reasons. One, Mortis, Raven's opponent in this match, would later become his right hand man, Kanyon. Mortis' manager, Vandenberg, would later lead Raven and Mike Awesome to an ECW World Tag Title victory as the Unholy Alliance as The Sinister Minister]. Raven (w/the Flock) vs. Mortis (w/James Vandenberg) - Raven slumps in the corner as Mortis makes his entrance. This is no DQ as usual so Mortis starts the match by drop-kicking Raven in the groin! The birdman falls to the outside where he is beaten severely. Back in the ring, Raven holds onto the ropes and blocks a DDT attempt to turn the tables momentarily. Mortis comes right back and the match see-saws. Mortis is knocked to the floor where Raven uses the steps as a springboard to throw two high knees in a row. Back in the ring Mortis turns things around again and makes several pin attempts. He calls for a chair and sets-up to use it. But Raven ducks the blow and slips in a DDT to get the pin.

WINNER: Raven via Pinfall

WCW Thunder: Raven vs. Marty Jannetty: (1.28.98) - Marty Jannetty vs. Raven - Raven makes his usual statement about it being a no DQ match. Jannetty starts strong but then the match goes to the outside and Raven turns the tables. Back in the ring, Raven brings in a chair but hardly gets to use it. Jannetty continues to dominate the action until he tries to use the chair himself. As he raises it in front of himself - Raven drop-kicks it into Jannetty's face. His usual DDT ends the contest. Cut to commercial.

We see Jerry Lee Lewis in the crowd as we return. He's sitting right behind the Flock.

WINNER: Raven via Pinfall
