WWE RAW: Raven Appearance/Backstage Promo: (05.27.02) - Last night, on the 5/26 edition of WWE Sunday Night Heat on MTV, Raven, fed up with shoddy treatment and mismanagement the WWE has inflicted on him and his career, quit his lucrative commentating partnership with Jonathan Coachman, leaving his spot on WWE Sunday Night Heat void to return to his roots as an enigmatic man of mystery. Jackie has been hired on to take Raven's place as the co-commentator on Sunday Night Heat as Raven goes on to make his own path in the WWE.

During the course of the 5/27 RAW broadcast live from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jonathan Coachman was backstage in the parking area waiting for Stone Cold Steve Austin to arrive. Apparently, Stone Cold Steve Austin's wife, Debra, had had some sort of a family emergency that delayed their arrival in Canada for WWE RAW. As Coachman was fidgeting around nervously backstage for any sign of the Texas Rattlesnake, he spied his former partner, Raven, in the vicinity. Raven was leaning against a chain link fence on top of a crate. He was wearing a plaid dogpile kilt and sporting a long sleeve t-shirt with a tribal-skull design on the sleeves and center. He asked Raven if he knew anything about Debra's supposed family emergency that kept Austin from the arena. Raven responded to Coachman's query by asserting that it wasn't Debra's family that had sustained a family emergency, but rather it was Stone Cold Steve Austin himself who was suffering:

"It wasn't Debra's family that had the emergency. It was Stone Cold Steve Austin's. In fact, it was Austin himself. Austin can conceal his pain no longer, because, from my vantage point, no matter how cleverly he may sneak upon a mirror, his reflection is always right there, to stare back at him. And do you know what he sees? He sees a troubled, tortured, tormented soul. I wish I could help him, Coach. But this is his destiny and I feel his pain. Quote the Raven, nevermore ..."

At this point, Jim Ross notes that he doesn't understand what Raven is talking about, but points out that Raven's "prophetic" ramblings are in front of a "No Smoking" sign, perhaps alluding to Austin.

At that moment, Raven runs into the ring and spikes Dreamer to the mat by unleashing the Raven Effect DDT for the pinfall to win the WWE Hardcore Title for the 20th time in his career!

WINNER and NEW WWE Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall. [20x]

Steven took advantage of Raven celebrating his win and nailed him in the mouth with a Superkick to regain his Hardcore Title.

WWE Sunday Night Heat: Raven Commentary: (05.26.02) - It's WWE Sunday Night Heat on MTV, broadcasted from The Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee. Your hosts are Jonathan Coachman, who now also hosts the syndicated RAW brand recap show, WWE Bottom Line. Raven is co-hosting tonight, even though he is obviously pissed off and unmotivated to tow the company line that has treated him so poorly in his opinion.

WWE Sunday Night Heat airs the Snickers Rewind of the Week, which this week is Raven challenging Jerry 'The King' Lawler to a match on WWE RAW Monday night because of his lack of wrestling knowledge in his color commentary. It shows Raven walking out of the match after Lawler rallied and Lawler winning the match-up due to a count-out.

Notes from Raven's Commentary: Raven mentions several talents like Justin Credible and Tommy Dreamer who could do well with a manager guiding their careers. Coachman questions Raven as to why he walked out on his match with Jerry 'The King' Lawler. Raven tells Coach to leave it alone. Raven talks about how it is all just indicative of how his career has been mishandled by this company. Raven makes it a point of how important it is that commentators know what they're talking about and care about their craft, when they don't it irritates him. Lawler used to know wrestling, now all he talks about is puppies, puppies, and more puppies. Raven refuses to do any of the voice-over commercials during Heat. Finally, Coach is about to talk about RAW, when Raven announces he's had enough and gets up from the commentator's table to go to the ring.

Raven In-Ring Promo - Raven gets in the ring, angry and fed-up and grabs the microphone:

"You know, I’ve been with this company for nearly two years, and the treatment that I have received has been short, if not bereft, of anything resembling the quality that a superstar of my magnitude and intellect deserves. You know, fate is a cruel mistress and the hand that she has dealt me has left me broken and busted. My latent skills have been overlooked while others of lesser ability have been showered with attention and care. Well, the oppression of my skills and the persecution of my soul will no longer be tolerated. You see, sometimes in life, we make our own choices. Sometimes, a choice ... is made for us. But sometimes, there is no choice, and therefore, I QUIT!"

Very good match between the 2 of them. Tommy Dreamer won the match and the title with the Spiccoli Driver.

WWE RAW: Raven Appearance: Booker T. & Goldust vs. The Hardy Boyz: (05.20.02) - Raven has been added to the opening RAW montage set to The Union Underground's RAW theme. As RAW comes back from break, we see that Raven is sitting at ringside in the commentary position next to Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler.

Notes from Raven's commentary: Raven said he was tired of Lawler's lecherous ways, that he was sick of Lawler fawning over women and not calling matches or calling what's in the ring. Raven wonders if Lawler even knows anything about wrestling anymore. Raven said if Lawler knew anything about women, his wife wouldn't have left him. Raven said he was out to show Jerry 'The King' Lawler how to commentate correctly. Raven finds it a strange turn of events that the Hardyz won 2 matches against the nWo. Raven thinks the nWo wants Booker T. and Goldust to split up. Raven says he'll stick around for awhile on commentary. Raven thinks the nWo is a horse without a head. The tension continued between Raven and Lawler, as Raven asked if Lawler knew anything about wrestling anymore and all Lawler can do is his little wisecracks. Lawler told Raven to take a hike and Raven grabbed the house mic and got in the ring.

Raven/Jerry 'The King' Lawler Confrontation - Raven said Lawler talked about nothing but puppies week in and week out for months now. He said it was obvious Lawler knew nothing about wrestling anymore. Raven said Lawler used to be a legend, but now he's just a hasbeen. Lawler's hometown crowd in Memphis chanted for him as Raven challenged him to a match if he's not too embarrassed. He said he would humiliate Lawler and humble him with what has come to be known as 'the Raven Effect.; Lawler grabbed a mic of his own and borrowed a phrase from Booker T -- "Tell me you didn't just challenge me to a match in my hometown." Raven says he just did. Lawler said the last time he saw something that looked like Raven, he flushed it. He told Raven to go get his gear and he would be waiting like Raven asked.

Raven vs. Jerry 'The King' Lawler - Raven comes out to his music from Forceable Entry by Stereomud. Ross says Raven has been insolent and disrespectful all night long. Raven took it to "The King," trying to embarrass the hometown boy. A huge "Raven's Gay" chant breaks out as Raven obliterates Lawler. At one point, Raven screamed at J.R. that he would be sitting in King's place next week on RAW. But Lawler fought back, taking it to the HEAT co-host. He nailed Raven with a dropkick, and punched away at him. King went up to the second rope, and Raven simply walked away from the fight raising his arms.

WINNER: Jerry 'The King' Lawler via Countout. (3:09)

WWE Sunday Night Heat: Raven Commentary: (05.19.02) - Raven and Jonathan Coachman are live and calling the complete match listings and operating the hype machine for tonight's WWE matches at Freedom Hall in Nashville, Tennessee - the site of the WWE Judgment Day PPV, live tonight only on PPV TV!

Notes from Raven's commentary: Raven knows that tonight at Judgment Day, it is The Undertaker’s night, and he will end the nostalgia tour of Hulkamania and Undertaker will become the new WWE Undisputed Champion. Raven thinks Stone Cold Steve Austin’s beating on WWE RAW on 5/13 has left him at 50% at best for his match against Flair and Big Show. Raven hypes the Edge vs. Kurt Angle hair match and states that it will be good, but Raven also prays Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake doesn’t show up to do the honors of shaving either man bald.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE Excess Late Night: Raven Commentary: (05.18.02) - Raven and Jonathan Coachman are live at the WWE Studios in Stamford, CN for the very last broadcast of WWE Excess Late Night, leading up the WWE Judgment Day PPV.

Notes from Raven's commentary: Raven feels Ric Flair's turn on Austin was warranted because if he left Austin run roughshod over him further, he'd only be a pawn in the eyes of the WWE roster and he'd lose respect; its about power, control and opportunity. Raven feels that with great power comes great responsibility and Flair's greatest responsibility should be to himself, after Raven, of course. Raven thinks Flair is in better shape now than he was 5 years ago. Raven is looking forward to the fact that at the PPV, Austin has to face an angry Giant and "The Dirtiest Player in the Game" in Flair. Raven thinks it nonsense that Austin through lumps at himself for being a lumberjack in Austin's match. Raven likes the sexual tension between Jazz and 'Wacko' Stevie and the zero chemistry between Trish and Bubba, but he's more enamored of the concept of a mixed Hardcore tag-match. Raven feels 'nerdy little geeks' like the Hardyz need to get the crap beat out of them. As far as the last Excess show, Coach asks Raven if he'll miss the show now, Raven answers, 'whatever.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE RAW: Raven Involvement: Ric Flair Lumberjack Decision: (05.13.02) - Over the past several weeks, Ric Flair has been having a difficult trying to have Stone Cold Steve Austin see his way after costing Austin the number-one contendership to the WWE Undisputed World Championship. Since then, Flair has given up on trying to be Austin's friend and has turned against him by hiring on the nWo as his patsies to get Austin out of his way. Flair challenged Hulk Hogan for the WWE Title, but lost due to interference by Steve Austin, who hit Flair with the Stunner. Enraged, Ric Flair ordered Austin to fight in the main event of RAW against a new member of the New World Order to be chosen by himself tonight in a ring surrounded by lumberjacks of Flair's choosing.

Raven Involvement: Lumberjack Match: Steve Austin vs. the nWo - Ric Flair's handpicked lumberjacks come down for this match. With the exception of Brock Lesnar and Crash, all of these men; Raven, Big Bossman, Booker T., William Regal, X-pac, Big Show, Goldust, Justin Credible and Eddie Guerrero have all feuded or had issues with Austin in the past. Flair comes into the ring and states that out of all of these handpicked lumberjacks, he has chosen to elevate one to nWo membership to take out Austin and that person is Booker T. Booker comes into the ring to challenge Austin. During the match, Raven and Brock Lesnar are the only lumberjacks who are able to fight off Austin and overpower him to toss him back in the ring. Near the end of the match, Bossman pulls Austin outside, but Austin clotheslines the Bossman, as well as Raven, who joins the fracas, over the crowd barricade and they leave.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE Sunday Night Heat: Raven Commentary: (05.12.02) - Raven and Jonathan Coachman are sitting at ringside once again calling color commentary and doing play by play for the televised edition of WWE Sunday Night Heat on MTV.

Notes from Raven's commentary: During a recap of Hulk Hogan's destruction of The Undertaker's motorcycle, Raven claims he always thought Hogan was a punk, not a vandal. Raven claims to be a 22-time Hardcore Champion and mentions his 143 Mensa level IQ. He's a huge fan of psychology and Goldust is a mystery wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an enigma.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE Excess Late Night: Raven Commentary: (05.11.02) - Raven and Jonathan Coachman are here for WWE Excess Late Night, the inaugural edition of the magazine style recap show since the WWF rebranded itself WWE with its "Get the 'F' Out" campaign. Raven was dressed casually with a black button down shirt, still sporting his hair with black and blonde braids.

Notes from Raven's commentary: Jonathan Coachman opened up the show by calling Raven a 22-time Hardcore Champion, Raven just went along with it. They went over the impromptu WWE Hardcore Title match on the 5/6 edition of WWE RAW. Raven once again mentioned that its the hardest title to hold onto because of the damned 24/7 rule, yet that doesn't stop people from going for it, including himself. Coachman says he thinks Raven's WWE Hardcore Title win on RAW was the shortest of everyone involved in the melee. Raven retorts by saying he was sure that Coach's girlfriend told him he was the shortest last night as well. Coachman later remarked that out of every co-host on Excess he's worked with, Raven is by far his favorite and the best, which Raven mocks by stating there's no competition. They mention Terri competing on a swimsuit competition on RAW. Raven pipes up and mentions that he and Terri used to be a couple during the ECW/WCW Alliance and she was a primadonna, always asking Raven to carry her bags around for her wherever they went. Raven thinks its fitting that Hogan's final legacy won't be as a red and yellow champion, but instead for grand larceny.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWE RAW: WWE Hardcore Championship: Raven vs. Bubba Ray Dudley: (05.07.02) - It's time to "Get The 'F' Out!" as the World Wrestling Federation officially becomes WWE - World Wrestling Entertainment. In the opening match of the inaugural WWE broadcast, Trish Stratus challenged WWE Women's Champion, Jazz, accompanied by her new boyfriend, the WWE Hardcore Champion, Steven Richards. Steven Richards interfered in the match, catching Trish full on in the face with a superkick to allow Jazz to retain her title. At this point, the 24/7 Hardcore Rule came into effect and Bubba Ray Dudley came down to the ring tossing a trash can into the ring, nailing Steven and Jazz with bionic elbows - Dusty Rhodes style. Bubba and Steven go at it after Bubba sets a table up in the ring, with Bubba Ray avoiding the Superkick and catching Steven in a full-nelson and hitting the Bubba Bomb for the pinfall to become the new WWE Hardcore Champion.

As Bubba Ray grabs the WWE Hardcore Title to celebrate, Jazz sneaks up behind him with a trash can lid to try and knock him out. Bubba Ray turns around and catches Jazz in mid-strike, psyching her out as she drops the lid and tries instead to kick him in the nether regions, only to have Bubba catch her before she strikes. In the midst of this action, Raven runs down to ringside to a big pop from the crowd, carrying a trash can lid. Raven grabs Bubba, spins him around and smashes the lid over Bubba's face, stunning him long enough for Raven to clasp Bubba's head in a side headlock and evenflow him with The Raven Effect to a three-count pinfall to capture the WWE Hardcore Championship for an unprecedented 18th time!

WINNER and NEW WWE Hardcore Champion: Raven via Pinfall (0:12)

However, this 18th WWE Hardcore Championship reign would not last very long. As Raven picked up the Hardcore Title to celebrate, Raven's former Alliance tag team partner, Justin Credible, ran down to the ring and blindsided Raven with a sneaky sucker-punch attack on Raven, landing a Superkick on Raven full in the face, allowing Justin to capture his first ever WWE championship title for a few seconds at least.

WINNER and NEW Hardcore Champion: Justin Credible via Pinfall (0:05)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWF Sunday Night Heat: Raven Commentary: (05.05.02) - Raven is at ringside calling color commentary once again alongside Jonathan Coachman for WWF Sunday Night Heat on MTV. Raven is sporting his ring gear once again as he calls matches for the night.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: Raven thinks it's a good thing that the Holly family, Crash and Molly, have reunited for the main event of Heat, as Crash will be in Molly's corner vs. Trish. He feels the bulk of RVD's moves hurt very little to nothing when used in a match. Raven feels that Flair is a glory hound and has no reason wrestling in a ring anymore. He thinks Jacqueline is an inconsistent referee at best. Raven feels that Hulk Hogan's current popularity is based on a wave of nostalgia more than anything. Raven feels the barometer by which all success in the WWF should be measured is by Undertaker's 'Decade of Destruction.' Raven always mentions Tommy Dreamer has heart, but also has halitosis, which is why he gets slapped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WWF Excess Late Night: Raven Commentary: (05.04.02) - WWF Excess Late Night, which airs @ 11pm to midnight every Saturday night on TNN, recaps the major activity on RAW every week, as hosted by Jonathan Coachman and Raven.

Notes of interest from Raven's commentary: Raven thinks the WWF's unintelligent fan base believes Hulkamania is running wild, when that's not true at all. Raven feels Bubba Ray is a fat loudmouth like Cartman from South Park and Jazz is like Kenny, since she has no verbal skills. Raven says Stevie Richards has always had a crush on Jazz. Raven has no distaste for Stevie Richards, he respects him since he had the intestinal fortitude to challenge him on the 4/28 Heat [even though Raven beat him cleanly in 02:50]. Raven thinks Hogan "the great white lion" has no chance at maintaining his supremacy against a very determined Undertaker. Raven feels Ric Flair's abysmal officiating makes Harvey Wippleman look like Earl Hebner in comparison. The only thing Ric Flair is any good at is kissing Stone Cold Steve Austin's ass. Raven thinks Hogan's movies are brutal, horrible and a D- collectively, graded on a curve. RVD annoys Raven to no end and Ric Flair needs to pass the torch and fade away.
