NWA Total Nonstop Action: Raven Promo: (09.24.03) - 3 Live Kru debuted their new single, complete with a bunch of musicians on the stage. The highlight of this was the fact that the bass player had a MetalSludge.com shirt on. Glen Gilberti, Simon Diamond & David Young attacked them from behind before they could finish their song. After laying them out, they went into the ring, while Tenay explained that Swinger was out due to his appendix surgery. Gilberti and company cut a promo, saying 3 Live Kru would be unable to wrestle, while Raven and The Gathering hit the ring. Raven gave Gilberti a DDT, and Diamond & Young carried him off. Raven got on the mic, and talked about the humiliation he suffered last week. A big "Raven" chant came up from the crowd. Raven talked about how there are very few stipulations in wrestling that mena anything. They may wound the pride or the psyche but none changes their essential self like a hair match does. Douglas hurt him and Raven will make him pay via the Raven Effect - short trip - bad landing.

A video on last week's hair vs. hair match between Shane Douglas and Raven, which saw the debut of Vampiro, was shown. Scott Hudson interviewed James Mitchell, who said that Vampiro was the final piece of a plan to teach Raven about pain, loss and humiliation. Mitchell said Raven was the first man to be scalped on television in front of a live audience. Mitchell cut a great promo asking Raven how it felt to be disfigured. He then talked about tonight's dog collar chain match, featuring Shane Douglas & the New Church vs. Raven & The Gathering.

Six-Man Dog Collar Match: Raven, CM Punk & Julio Dinero vs. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, Slash & Sin - Raven, Julio Dinero & CM Punk defeated Shane Douglas, Sinn & Slashin a dog collar chain match. Raven & The Gathering hit the ring before the bell and attacked their opponents. Raven tied himself to Shane Douglas, Julio tied himself to Sinn and Punk tied himself to Slash. Raven pulled Douglas into the ringpost on the floor over and over. Julio did the same to Sinn and Punk did the same to Slash. Douglas was busted open, and Raven put him in a Cobra Clutch. Julio choked Sinn with his chain. Slash broke up Raven and Julio's holds, and clotheslined Punk with the chain. Slash was busted open, as was Sinn. Slash flipped Punk with the chain. Douglas pulled the chain across Raven's mouth. Punk was busted open, and Slash hit him in the head with the chain. Raven was starting to bleed from the head. Sinn raked Julio's forehead against the ring steps. All six men are bleeding now. In the ring, Douglas clotheslined Raven with the chain. Slash slammed Punk and dropped an elbow with the chain. Slash hit a top rope fistdrop with the chain. All three members of the New Church/Douglas team went to the top, and they were all pulled down by the chain. Raven & The Gathering took over with clotheslines and superkicks. Punk and Dinero gave Douglas a double bulldog. The whipped all three of their opponents together, then the fight spilled to the floor again. Dinero got the pin on Sinn at the seven minute mark,

WINNERS: The Gathering via Pinfall

Post-match, James Mitchell and Vampiro came out, laying out Raven and the Gathering. They dragged them to the balcony, and Raven, Punk and Dinero were hung by the dog collar chains to end the show.

NWA Total Nonstop Action: Raven/Shane Douglas Promo: (09.17.03) - NWA/TNA posted 2 pre-match promos as a preview for the hair vs. hair match between Raven & Shane Douglas on September 17, 2003:

To the TNA Fans:

Shane Douglas is a filthy, wretched, despicable, two-faced, backstabbing, out of shape, past his prime, reprobate.

I will shave his hair Wednesday night. I refuse to believe that he even has a chance of shaving mine. I have come up with solutions for every conceivable problem he has thrown at me.

Make no mistake about it, whether I'm victorious or defeated and shamed, someone will be shaved bald. This won't be some feeble and hapless attempt to garner buy rates by bringing up stipulations that someone is going re-neg on.

There it is... two men walk in - one man walks out to glory, the other to humiliation; a psychic scar that is not easily healed.

Welcome to Raven's Clockwork Orange House of Fun.

Quote the Raven......Nevermore.

---

Well, well, well... Raven thinks flattery will curb my desire to physically maim and cripple him in this hair -vs- hair match. Well, Raven, kissing my ass will get you nothing more than my ire.

You accuse me of being a "filthy, wretched despicable, two-faced, back-stabbing, out-of-shape, past his prime, reprobate". Well just as I do to my opponents in the ring, let me systematically analyze, and then debunk (or agree!) with you charge.

I plead guilty to the charge of wretched despicability. I am that, indeed, and so much more. I am hatred incarnate when it comes to my opponents in the ring.

As for being two-faced and a back-stabber, it takes one to know one but show me a successful wrestler in this sport and we are, each and every one of us, guilty to that charge. This is a business where those qualities are rewarded, so to be competetive, you had best be both of those terrible things. Perhaps you'd have been more successful in your career had you been a bit more familiar with those attributes.

As for being "out of shape and past my prime", I will respond by saying I WAS in the worst shape of my career a mere three months ago. However, every fan can see for themselves that I have not only gotten back in shape, but I have gotten into perhaps the best shape I've been in since my distinguished and glorious run as THE GREATEST ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF ALL TIME!!!

And that's what this is really all about isn't it Raven... this is all about our legacies in this sport. You see, Raven, no two men can occupy the same mountain top. No two men can be the greatest. You claim that you are a wrestler of destiny. Hitler, and many others like him, also avowed destiny as their own. Well, Raven, as history showed all of those wannabe jabronies, you too are sailing right into a quagmire. You do indeed have a rendezvous with A destiny. But WHAT destiny is the question! Let me suggest that your awaiting destiny is defeat and ridicule.

You know Raven, I am man enough to admit that you are one hell of a talent in this sport. However, you are not, nor will you ever be a Franchise!!! You have a knack for remunerating things exactly as they are. You are so very right when you state that this match will live up to its billing. One of us will definitely walk out bald.

Unlike another said company that promised such and then gave the loser - Kevin Nash - a stylish coif. No, the loser of this match will shine like a billiard ball. If I should lose this match I will allow my head to be shaved bald because, if nothing else, I have always been a man of my word. You stated that you believe you have formed solutions to any concievable problem I can throw at you. Please keep believing that... your theory will be put to the test.

Raven, you are a man of exceptional ability but, again you are no Franchise. You are a man of honed skill, but you are no Franchise. You are a man that has sucked up to every corporate entity you have worked for in this sport (ie: Vince McMahon's Johnny Polo; WCW's Scotty The Body; and, yes, Paul Heyman's Raven) and its gotten you nothing until now. By sucking up to the TNA honchos, you've been able to corner me into a match (hair -vs- hair) that I would have never, and should have never agreed to.

To the fans, all I will say is.. you will get what you want (Hmmm!!!). See you at the Asylum, HaHaHaHa!

Shane Douglas

Hair vs. Hair Match: Raven vs. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas: (09.17.03) - Since early in Shane Douglas' return to the NWA to destroy Raven -- the man trying to revive a belt Douglas felt he established his legacy in destroying -- Douglas has tried to shame Raven by claiming his hair, one of the most visible symbols of Raven's disconnect with mainstream society. After weeks of attacks by Douglas, his nw allis in The Disciples of The New Church and their cohort, a mystery man with an agenda against the Poet of the Macabre, Raven and Shane Douglas clash tonight in a match where the winner will have his shaved bald.

A video package airs detailing Raven and Douglas' feud leading up to tonight's match-up. Scott Hudson interviewed Jim Mitchell and Shane Douglas afterwards. Mitchell said that they would end the misconception that Raven was a "violent messiah". Mitchell stressed that there would be no false advertising tonight, and that there would be a bald Raven tonight. Douglas said that it was "time to make some noise."

Shane Douglas came out to the ring alone. They had a stare down at the start, and Douglas spent time yelling at the crowd and mouthing off at Raven. They started exchanging punches, and Raven tossed Douglas to the floor, but Douglas jumped back in before Raven could follow up. Douglas went for a arm ringer, but Raven slugged him to the mat. Raven. They locked up, fell through the ropes, and continued to grappled on the floor. Raven tossed Douglas into the guardrail, and they fought into the crowd. Raven hit Douglas with a chair, and legdropped it across his face. Raven had a fans hold chairs, so Raven could ram Douglas into them. Raven hit Shane with a garbage can, and posed crucifix-style over him. Raven rammed Shane into another fan-held chair, then went back into the ring. Raven put Shane in a cobra clutch, wearing down Douglas. Raven went for a DDT, but Douglas dropped out of it. Raven charged him, and Douglas hit a drop toe hold, sending Raven through the ropes to the floor. Douglas went after Raven with punches on the floor, but Raven responded with punches of his own. Raven rammed Douglas into the steps and the camera platform at ringside. Douglas was busted open, and Raven hit a drop toe hold into the steps. Raven went to ram Douglas into the announce table, but Douglas blocked it and hit Raven low with a knee. Douglas picked up the scissors at ringside, but put them back down. Douglas rammed Raven into the ringsteps, and punched Raven's forehead.

Raven was busted open, and Douglas tossed him back into the ring. Douglas hit a rolling neck snap, then put Raven in an abdominal stretch. Raven reversed into a cobra clutch, but Douglas elbowed out and went back to the stretch. Raven hiptossed out, Douglas went for the move again, Raven reversed into his own abdominal stretch, but Douglas hiptossed him over the top rope to the floor. Douglas choked Raven with his boot in the ring. Douglas started throwing up in the ring. Raven hit a kneelift and went for a cover, but Douglas kicked out at two. Raven went to the floor and got a chair, while Douglas pulled a chain out of his trunks. Raven went to pick Douglas up, and Shane hit him with the chain for a two count. Raven reversed a whip, and hit a drop toe hold into the chair for a two count. Raven then hit a bulldog into the chair for another two. Douglas reversed a whip, Raven ducked under a clothesline, and hit a superkick. The referee started to count, but Slash appeared at ringside and pulled the referee from the ring. Raven went for another bulldog, and ended up colliding with Slash and the referee, who were now in the ring. The ref was down, and Sinn ran in and superkicked Raven. Sinn and Slash brought two tables into the ring, then held Raven so Douglas could kick him. Julio Dinero and CM Punk ran in, and fought Sinn and Slash up the ramp and into the back. Douglas set up a table. Raven grabbed Douglas in a DDT, but Douglas kicked out at two by the time the referee got over to count. Raven went for a top rope DDT, but Douglas shoved him off the ropes, through the table, for a two count. Douglas set up the other table, and placed Raven on it. Douglas went to the second rope, but Raven stopped him and DDT'd him off the ropes through the table. The referee counted two, and Shane Douglas got his shoulder up when all of a sudden ... the lights went out!

When they came up, the mystery man stood in the ring and pulled off his mask as Raven and Douglas lay prone on the mat. The mystery man removed his mask to reveal the face of ....

VAMPIRO!

Vampiro, Raven's former protege, was the man in the mask. Vampiro came up, grabbed Raven and spiked him with an Evenflow DDT as Douglas made the pin and won Raven's hair. Douglas claimed this was Raven's destint as Mitchell and Vampiro grabbed barber implements. Mitchell proceeded to literally scalp Raven - leaving huge bloody trails down his head as Vampiro posed and mocked Raven's denuded head. Douglas held a mirror up to Raven and claimed this was Raven's true destiny as Raven held his bare shaven and bloody head in his hands.

WINNER: Shane Douglas via Pinfall (20:00)

MLW Underground TV: Raven/CM Punk Promo: (09.15.03) - More build-up for the Raven vs. Nosawa match at MLW WarGames:

CM Punk: "The straight edge movement. Drug free, alcohol free. It grows everyday. And the latest soldier, Nosawa, just converted from a life of reckless living. See he used to conform to that lifestyle, Raven. He used to be the guy that went out and partied every night just like you. But the only thing that got him was (censored) matches and a horrible win/loss record here in MLW. You see that all changes with the clean living. That all changes with being pure and drug free. See, I don’t have to dirty my hands with you anymore, because Nosawa wants to prove himself to me. He wants to prove that he belongs in my movement, in my corner, as one of my soldiers. So Raven, Nosawa is looking for you. And he’s looking to take…you…out!"

Raven: "So tonight we have a straight edge rules match between me and CM Punk. So I figure, with a straight edge rules match, the rules being that you can be disqualified unlike other MLW matches that have no disqualification. Either way, I’m gonna kick your ass. Quote the Raven, nevermore."

Straight Edge Rules: Raven vs. CM Punk - Before the match, Joey Styles runs down the stipulations in a Straight Edge Rules match. There is to be no use of any tables, chairs, ladders, the ring bell, no weapons of any kind. If you use them you will be disqualified. CM Punk also requested that the fans to not drink any alcohol, smoke, or even use foul language during his match. Also, a straight edge referee has been assigned to the match.

CM Punk makes his way to the ring being accompanied by Nosawa. Raven then makes his entrance to a chorus of cheers of the fans. Raven gets into the ring and a huge Raven chant is started. The match starts off as an old school match up, and Raven gets the upper hand in the corner. The ref admonishes Raven for using a closed fist. Raven takes it to CM Punk proving he can wrestle the old style, frustrating CM Punk. Punk gets composed and gets Raven into the corner, kicking him down. Raven reverses a whip and goes for the Raven Effect, but Punk escapes. Punk goes to the outside to discuss strategy with Nosawa but Raven grabs them both and it’s a Straight Edge Noggin Knocker!

Raven gives chase and gets Punk back in the ring. Punk is begging for mercy. Raven throw him through the ropes to the outside. The ref grabs a mic on the outside, but the mic fails and Styles covers up by letting us know that he is threatening to disqualify Raven because he threw him through the ropes. Raven gets in the face of the ref, knowing that he is going to cause problems for him in this match. In the ring, Punk has a steel chair and goes to hit Raven but Raven blocks, and Punk drops the chair. Going to his hardcore instincts Raven immediately grabs the chair and gets ready to wallop Punk but the ref, who conveniently didn’t see that Punk was the one that brought in the chair, takes the chair away from Raven. He turns his back just in time for Punk to low blow Raven.

The match now turns in Punks favor. Failed pin attempt by Punk. Another chair shot by Punk which the ref ignores. Another pin attempt, 1…2…kick out. Nosawa distracts the ref while Punk wedges the chair between the top and middle rope. CM Punk whips Raven who viciously crashes into the chair sideways and falls to the outside floor. On the apron Punk directs Nosawa where to get the refs attention and even helps guide the ref to him so he won’t see him whip Raven into the guard rail, causing further damage to the now hurt back. Punk throws the lifeless Raven back into the ring and gives him some nasty right hands right in front of the refs face. CM Punk is dominating the match and lets out his war cry! “STRAIGHT EDGE MEANS I’M BETTER THAN YOU!”

The crowd is upset and boo’s the straight edge elitist. Punk grabs a mic but that also isn’t working. Still working on the back he gives Raven a belly to back suplex, and finds a working mic. He puts the mic down and begins to do push-ups next to the near unconscious Raven. “Come on Raven! Come on how many push-ups can you do? With that drug addled body of yours?” He drags Raven to his feet, and ignores the refs pleas to not use the mic, hammers Raven with the mic while the ref looks away at the last second. Fast count, but Raven somehow manages to get a shoulder up. A scoop and a slam on Raven, working on the back, and another two count. Punk directs Nosawa again to get up on the apron to distract the ref. Raven is up against the ropes and Punk charges in with a steel chair, but it backfires! He misses Raven and hits the ropes which cause the chair to bounce back and hit himself! Both men down, and the ref counts to nine before the count is broken. Raven turns things around. He shoots a couple jabs and nearly takes CM Punks head off with a discus clothesline. Raven quickly moves into his signature offensive moves whipping Punk into the corner, dazed Punk backs out of the corner only to be met with an explosive clothesline! Raven is full of energy and has got his second wind back! Shades of Mr. Wrestling II with a knee lift! Punk backs into the corner but Raven catches him and whips him to the opposite corner. He splashes punk and delivers a devastating running bulldog! He goes for the cover, it should be it! One…two…no! Punk kicks out. Raven perhaps either forgetting about the rules or simply just doesn’t care anymore sets up a steel chair in the middle of the ring, which can only mean that the drop toe hold is coming next. He whips Punk into the ropes but that sneaky straight edge ref moves the chair before Punks face could get splattered. Raven has had enough of the ref. He steps over Punks body, staring at the ref. Punk sneaks up on Raven and catches him in a school boy, fast count by the ref one, two…no! Raven gets out in the nick of time. Punk whips Raven into the ropes but doesn’t appear to have much left in the tank. Raven has taken him to the limit and at any moment this could be over for CM Punk. He attempts a clothesline but Raven easily avoids it, turns, and delivers a jaw shattering super kick! Raven makes the cover, one…two…kick out! A slow count by the ref gave Punk a little extra time to kick out. Raven taunts Punk to get up but is caught from behind by Nosawa. He hooks Raven giving Punk a wide open shot. Raven suckered him in though, and dodged the shot. Punk looks shocked as he sees his newly recruited straight edge soldier fall to the floor. He turns around and is met with the Raven Effect! The Evenflow DDT! It’s academic! One…two…no! The ref takes a page out of Nick Patrick’s book and pulls his shoulder before the three count! Raven is infuriated. He grabs the ref by the shirt and pulls him into position for a Raven Effect! Just as he is about the CM Punk rolls up Raven and the ref delivers an ultra fast three count. The ref calls for the bell as both he and Punk get quickly out of the ring. Raven is left standing in the ring holding his head in frustration while CM Punk goes ecstatic on the outside, saying he’s going to Disneyland.

Winner of the Straight Edge Rules Match: CM Punk via Pinfall.

MLW Underground TV: Raven/CM Punk Promos: (09.08.03) - MLW featured build-up this week in the form of promos from Raven and CM Punk building up to the Raven vs. Nosawa match at the next live MLW event:

CM Punk delivers a promo in the back questioning whether or not even he can convert someone like Raven to the straight edge.

CM Punk: "Raven, I am sick and tired of this whole saga that has become CM Punk vs. Raven. It seems I can’t get rid of you. I turn a corner, and there you are. You know it seems not that long ago that you wanted to join a circus up north that relied less on wrestling, and more on gimmicks. So you briefly quit your drugs, and your alcohol, and the rats. And you had it all didn’t you? You had the BIG DEAL Raven. You had merchandise, you had video game likenesses, you had toys, action figures, t-shirts. You know, ever since I was a little kid one of my dreams has been to have an action figure. But I never dreamt of working for a circus. And I certainly never dreamt of having mediocre run of the mill matches with some 350 pound guy named something only a comedy writer would laugh at. Yeah you had it all Raven, you got comfortable. You slipped back into those old ways and you got back into the drugs, and the drinking, and the women. And you lost that job. You lost that job and you lost your friends. Hell, your good buddy Vampiro even walked out on you. But that was then and this is now. This is MLW. You know and it’s funny when I think about it, but I don’t even think my righteous hand can help you. Sometimes Raven, late at night I think that the straight edge movement can’t even help you. But I’ve got a new convert, the newest man in my straight edge army, Nosawa. And Raven, War Games, Nosawa Vs Raven. This might be the answer to all your prayers. Nosawa is going to be the man tohelp you and become straightedge, and help you find your smile."

Raven: "So CM Punk has brought in his flunky Nosawa to wrestle me. I love beating up flunkies. There may be nothing more enjoyable to me then beating up flunkies, associates, lackeys, assistants. You know, whether it was Stevie Richards and the Blue Meanie, Nova. I really loved it when they turned on me, because then I got to beat their asses. And now I’m going to beat Nosawa’s ass. It’s pretty simple. Quote the Raven, nevermore."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ring of Honor: Clockwork Orange House of Fun Steel Cage Match: Raven vs. CM Punk: (09.06.03) - In a Clockwork Orange House of Fun Steel Cage Match with Weapons, Raven pinned CM Punk with a DDT off the top rope through a table. Raven tried to get out of the Cage at one point and Colt Cabana slammed the door in his face. Raven was handcuffed to the cage and beaten for a long time. Raven won the match, despite interference from Colt Cabana on Punk's behalf. After the pin, the lights went out and when they returned there was a huge "X" in the ring (Punk's backstory is he is straight edge, which is symbolized by the X) with Raven tied to it and barbed wire wrapped around his face.

WINNER: Raven via Pinfall

After an initial three minute period, wrestlers will enter the cage every 90 seconds, and the match cannot end until all ten men are in the cage, which is filled with weapons.
