Raven's Log
Stardate: 12.10.03
2:18 am, mile marker 257 in Georgia.

There is nothing I hate more than these fucking worthless assholes who take and take and take and give nothing back to the sport of wrestling. There are so many dicks in this business who have been given fame, fortune, Porsches and million dollar homes and never once repaid the sport that gave them so much. I mean, all they had to do was:
a) Give advice
b) Help and/or teach up and comers.
c) Create new stars.
d) Pass the torch.
e) Hell, just be thankful that they are getting paid for something that when they started they'd have done for free. It's called love of the game.

I don't get it. I don't get it. I really don't fucking get it.

I mean, hey, I'm a prick I know it and I definitely wouldn't be mistaken for a choir boy, but come on, how hard is it to see the value of putting someone over? Example: in 1980something, Ric Flair took a nothing happening, going nowhere midcarder to a 45 minute draw on a Clash of the Champions and created a new star. Period. That simple. He didn't have to. He could've just got himself over. No one said to him, "Hey, make this kid." He did it because it was the right thing to do. Period. That simple.

How come nobody else does this anymore? How come nobody else does this? We were always taught that wins and losses weren't really that important, but I guess they really are that important; at least to the boys. Ric Flair put more worthless motherfuckers over and going by conventional wisdom, his career should be as dead as Thunderfoot #2. However, he is still one of the most over people in the sport. Why is that? Is it because:
a) America likes losers.
b) Nothing is more attractive to young 18-34 demographics than a 56-year old prancing in his underwear styling and profiling, etc. etc.
c) Because if you know how to work (selling, psychology, putting your opponent over), its compelling television.
d) Go fuck yourself.

The answer is C, although you never really can go wrong with answer D.

In conclusion, and I quote Terry Taylor (always share the heat with a fellow solar panel), "This business was based on giving; at what point did everything change and it became based on taking?" I'd ask the people what they think, but the boys wouldnt care and, for a while, I forgot to care too. I mean, come on, who are the fans anyway? Theyre just the people who pay for the Porsches, the million dollar homes, as well as my condo and 15 years of self-indulging, self-annihilating decadence, debauchery, whores, coke, exstacy, condoms, ring rats, booze, painkillers, trips to rehab, more drugs, more rehab, more whores and I wouldnt change it for the world. Well, maybe a few things, but definitely not the whores. To all the fans, thank you for the last fifteen years. Quote the Raven, I hope it goes on forevermore.
